IONS-KOALA 2011
27th November - 2nd December 2011: Trinity College, The University of Melbourne
The Swinburne, Melbourne and RMIT University OSA Student Chapters are hosting the 4th annual Conference on Optics, Atoms and Laser Applications - IONS-KOALA 2011. KOALA will take place from the 27th of November to the 2nd of December at Trinity College, University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia.
KOALA is geared primarily towards Honours, Masters and PhD students from Australia and New Zealand working in an optics-related field.
Topics include: Nonlinear optics, Ultracold atoms, Quantum optics, X-Ray optics, Photonics, Spectroscopy, Biophotonics, and more.
The conference will follow the format of previous KOALAs, with 30 minute long talks by selected delegates and poster presentation by all delegates that wish to present. Plenary speakers are invited, and select students invited to give workshops on a particular field of optics to ease other delegates into the wide field of optics related research that the conference supports.
As with previous KOALAs, a number of sponsored registrations will be made available, where the majority of the registration fee is paid by conference sponsors. Included in this registration fee is all accommodation, food, conference dinner and social day expenses. Yes, a social day! We take all delegates away from science for the day and allow them to network socially. Once sponsored registrations are exhausted, additional delegates will be required to pay the full registration fee, that may be reduced if additional sponsorship becomes available.
Information on the conference can be found at our official website:
